High-Performance SAN-Ready RAID Storage Solutions for SD, HD & 2K Production

G-SPEED FC XL is the ideal storage solution for multi-stream, multi-user uncompressed SD/HD & 2K work flows. G-SPEED FC XL features dual-channel 4Gbit Fibre Channel connectivity and is available in 2U or 3U rack mountable enclosures with 12 or 16 Hitachi SATAII drives. G-SPEED FC XL and can be configured (via a front panel LCD or Web GUI) as a JBOD or in RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5 or 6.

This flexibility enables the system to be tuned to the required level of performance and fault-tolerance necessary to fully support your application. 
G-SPEED FC XL is "SAN Ready" and is an affordable and simple way to deploy a fail-safe SAN or add additional high performance RAID storage to existing XSan2 / metaSAN networks. G-SPEED FC XL's built-in Web GUI is used to monitor the status of the system including power supply voltage, fan RPM and the temperature of the RAID controller & hard drives. In the event of a problem, G-SPEED FC XL can send an email message to up to four recipients.

The G-SPEED FC XL is the perfect low cost, high performance storage solution for today's post production workflows. At IBC 2006, the RED camera project used two G-SPEEDFC XLs to play back 2k in FCP from the original 4k material using the Kona 3, and we use the G-SPEED FC and G-SPEED FC XL in the RED office for day to day high data rate needs.

I did a number of tests to gauge performance, but the tests that really matter are what format you can capture, what format you can play back, and how smooth the system feels while doing it. The most important thing to me was that I could capture long clips of all flavors of HD, including 10-bit uncompressed 1080i, without a hiccup. When I played the clips back, I could fly around the timeline like it was butter-or DV.
