G 3TB Drive unmounted and does not appear on computer

My G 3TB Drive does not load on my MacAir but the light is on and it appears to be running. It is not appearing as a device. The drive & MacAir are less than one year old and being used as the Time Machine back up. The cables have been tested and the drive was hooked up to other Mac's. The drive never appeared, although it turns on and hums. Is there anything else to try?

Thanks for your post. Does the drive make any unusual sounds or activity? Does it appear in Disk Utility, but greyed out? Per the troubleshooting you have already done, I would say it is most likely a bad unit, and will need to be returned for replacement. Please let me know if you have any questions.
