G-Drive slowing down my iMac

Purchased the 4TB G-Drive and when it's on (I have it connected via USB) it makes my computer slow. Any reason for this?

Thanks for your post. Which G-Drive version do you have? Could you please explain more how it is slowing down your iMac? Is the response sluggish, or does it lock up, or? Please let me know if you have any questions.
