Sleep/standby mode
Hi, does the G-Speed Q have a sleep/standby mode? And do the fans ever power off?
It appears that the fans never power off even when the computer is shut down.
Thanks.

Re: Sleep/standby mode
Dogmatix,
The G-SPEED Q does not have a sleep/standby mode. It is designed to work at all times to be used for projects that would have issues with idling or standby modes.
In order for the fans to stop going the unit will need to be powered off.

Re: Sleep/standby mode
I have a question about the cooling fan that is relevant here. Does the "quiet smart cooling fan" ever slow down? The fan in our unit seems to have one speed – full on, all the time. "Smart" implies that the fan changes speed dependent on cooling needs.
Re: Sleep/standby mode
rhutchings,
You should hear a difference and it will slow down if it doesn't require more cooling. What is your environment like?

Re: Sleep/standby mode
Hi Brandon,
Thanks for your response.
The unit is on a desktop, by itself in the open in an air conditioned edit suite. The cooling fan has never changed speed and stays at the same speed from initial start up throughout the day whether in use or not. Perhaps this is the slowest fan speed? The unit is in an OFFLINE suite.
We are however currently evaluating storage solutions for our ONLINE suites and will be looking at the G-Speed es Pro. Noise will be more of a factor in that evaluation. Does the G-Speed es Pro have the same fan system/fan speed management/loudness as the G-Speed Q?
Thanks.
