Is it possible to change the drive inside G-grive Mini in ca
Hello everybody,
Is it possible to change the drive inside a G-drive Mini 200GB/7200rpm (FW800/FW400/USB2) in case the original drive fails completely? Drive is ca.5 years old but has not been used much.
With the new mid-2012 macbook pro non-retina (has a FW800 port) that I am getting soon it is going to see much more usage as external drive for Logic Pro projects. I need to find out if I can resurrect it in case it eventually fails.
Do you think same model can also be bus powered by the thunderbolt port via the apple FW800-to-TB adaptor which is said to provide only 7W of power.
Thanks

Hi Nikolay,
Thanks for your post. It is possible to replace the drive in your G-DRIVE Mini, it should be able to use at least 500GB drives. I have not tried anything larger with that board/chipset. The drive should work with the Thunderbolt FW800 adapter. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
