4TB vs 8TB difference

Postby rl4518 » Oct 18th, '12, 16:34

Other than the obvious, is there another difference between these two versions of the drive?
Can one upgrade to an 8TB later if they first purchase the 4TB version?

Hi,

Thanks for your post. The only difference is the capacity. As it turns out, to upgrade to 8TB you would buy a new drive. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I bought the 4TB G-RAID model and it has two disks. I guess my question is would I be able to replace the disks with two 4TB units to get 8TB?

Yes that is possible, however, the chipset in the 4TB may or may not support 4TB drives, and you will void your warranty.
